CRYSTAL FALLS—With autumn nearing its peak colors, Iron County will be celebrating with the 12th annual Crystal Falls Harvest Fest this weekend.
Activities get under way Friday, Sept. 21, with the Crystal Falls Business Association’s tailgate party prior to the Forest Park Trojan football game at 5:30 p.m. at the east entrance of Dick Mettlach Field.
On Saturday, Sept. 22, the antique and crafters flea market will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Crystal Avenue behind the Harbour House Museum and Crystal Theatre.
At 10, it’s time for the chili and pie social at the Harbour House, and at 11, face and pumpkin painting is scheduled, sponsored by Job’s Daughters.
Tamarack, featuring Bob Arthur on fiddle, John Sundquist on Irish whistle and accordion and Pat Oakes on piano, will be providing music from 10 to 2.
Throughout the day, note organizers, there will be buckboard games, food “and so much more.”
Bewabic State Park will be having a number of Harvest Fest activities starting Friday night with pumpkin decorating at the pavilion from 7 to 8. On Saturday, there will be carnival games for youngsters from 1:30 to 3 p.m. followed by a costume contest at 3.
Campground trick or treating gets under way at 6.
Whether camping or visiting, the campground decorations are a sight to see. After dark, a spooky bonfire will be by the campground host’s site.
