ALPHA—The Porter School Market Place’s shopkeepers are getting ready for their April 1 spring opening.
The historic Porter School now houses a number of shops, vendors, the Circle Café and the Porter School Library and Resource Center on the circle in Alpha.
New this year is Wishingstone Woods, featuring antique and resale “up north pickers” items and local artwork of “U.P. drifters.”
The new schoolroom shop will be joining A Stitch in Time, Un-Leashed, Room 106, Back Room Books and the Alpha General Store.
Vendors at the market place include Dunn Creek Whimsey, Maureen’s Soap Shop, Pampered Chef, Northern Trading Services and much more.

The hours at the Porter School Market Place are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. They will be closed on Easter Sunday following the Saturday, April 7, “Egg-stravaganza” in the shops.
Events, fundraisers and specials will be offered throughout the season, along with the Farmers Market opening in June.
Information will be available at the March 31 Iron County Home, Business and Outdoor Expo and at the Windsor Center Spring Craft and Garden Show or can be seen at www.porterschoolmarketplace.com.
As spring cleaning wraps up, the doors will be open for shoppers to browse the old school rooms filled with newly crafted wares and old-fashioned merchandise.
