AMASA—Ice fisherman from throughout Iron County brought entries to Trappers Lane Jan. 12 as part of Amasa’s fundraiser for its 125th birthday celebration.
The chili feed featured silent auctions and raffles, and organizers held the ice fishing contest as part of the fundraising event.

 
County, chamber will appeal FS trail decision

Trustees vote to upgrade Bates Twp.’s chilly garage

BATES TOWNSHIP—Trustees here voted Jan. 9 to update the township garage, which has been without heat for nearly two weeks, Supervisor Grant Helgemo said.
The heater is outdated and noisy, Helgemo told supervisors during the monthly meeting. Some circuit boards in the controller are obsolete.

 
NorthStar hosting weight loss program

IronLine sled dog race plans continue

IRON RIVER—Organizers for The IronLine dog sled race are moving ahead with hopes of snow in the forecast.
The new winter event for Iron County will take place on Jan. 18-19, with the opening race ceremonies beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday in the downtown Iron River area.

 
‘Sound of Music’ auditions set
