BATES TOWNSHIP—The Bates Township Veterans Memorial Committee, in collaboration with Austin Atanasoff’s Eagle Scout project, will be constructing a veterans’ memorial at Bates Township Cemetery, which will be unveiled on Memorial Day 2013.
The anticipated cost to erect the memorial is expected to be about $10,000.
Bates Township has committed $4,000 toward the memorial construction. To offset the remaining cost of the memorial, the project committee will be offering for purchase personalized, inscribed paver bricks to be placed in the brick walkway that will surround the memorial.
The cost of an engraved brick is $100. Bricks may be engraved and personalized with the name of the donor, the name of a friend, a family member or loved one, a veteran, a business, school, scout troop or any other appropriate inscription.
The committee requests donations for this project. Donations in any amount are welcome. However, only a $100 donation will qualify you for a personalized brick.
Order forms for the purchase of an inscribed brick are available by contacting Township Clerk Barbara at Bates Township Hall at 3070 West U.S. 2, Iron River, MI 49935; (906) 265-2787 or by contacting Paul DeNicola at (906) 265-9655.
The order form is also available on the Bates Township website at batestownship.com.
