Beechwood Historical Society makes plans for schoolbell’s return

BEECHWOOD—The Beechwood Historical Society will be hosting two events in July that will culminate with the Iron County Museum returning the original school bell to the Beechwood Hall (formerly the Beechwood School from 1914 to 1933).

CRYSTAL FALLS—Crystal Falls District Community Library will present Mark Rosenthal’s Animal Magic Friday, July 20, at 1 p.m. at the Crystal Falls Township Hall.
 Rosenthal’s Animal Magic is a non-profit organization dedicated to exotic wildlife conservation and life science education.

MARQUETTE—Georgie Dohl was crowned the 2012 Great Lakes Rodeo (GLR) Queen at the seventh annual Great Lakes Rodeo, held at the Marquette fairgrounds over Father’s Day weekend.
 Emilie Christensen was first runner up in the queen division.

 The performance by Otis and the Alligators is part of Crystal Theatre’s 2012 “Gem of a Season.”

 
U.P. book tour event planned

CRYSTAL FALLS—The Crystal Falls District Community Library welcomes the public to a U.P. book tour event at the library on Saturday, July 7, at 2 p.m.
 The U.P. Book Tour 2012 will be held in 20 sites across the Upper Peninsula between June 19 and July 17. Over 40 U.P. or Michigan based authors will participate in literary and theater events held to celebrate literature.

 
Mansfield Music Fest set June 30

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP—The Mansfield Memories Committee will present the Mansfield Music Fest and Dance Saturday, June 30, at the Mansfield Township Hall, located at 2804 M-69 between Sagola and Crystal Falls.
 The afternoon will begin at 2 p.m. with open jamming on the grounds.
 “Bring your instrument, music and a lawn chair,” said organizers.
