Skaters take to the ice at the Caspian Ice Arena on Fridays and Saturdays for open public skating from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $3 per person, and all ages are welcome. Concessions are available. Open skating is sponsored by Iron Amateur Hockey Association. The Ice Hawks Squirts team will have a home game at the arena on Saturday, Jan. 11. Game times are 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Ice Hawks Peewees will host a playdown tournament at the rink on the weekend of Jan. 18-19. Admission is free for the public is to cheer on the local hockey teams.

IronLine plans shift to high gear

IRON RIVER—With the IronLine sled dog race less than a month away, Team IronLine event organizers are mushing ahead with race plans. The IronLine will be held on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in Iron River.
