New training rules take effect for grid practices

IRON COUNTY—As a new season of high school football begins, coaches and players alike will be adapting to new practice policies instituted by the Michigan High School Athletic Association.
The new rules are intended to limit helmet-to-helmet contact during practices and help players acclimate themselves to possible hot August weather.

Fast-Air wins hoops title

IRON RIVER—Fast-Air defeated Nelson Timberridge Forest 67-30 Aug. 6 in the championship game of the Bachman Park Summer League tournament.
Fast Air was the regular season champions, and Nelson finished in second place, according to league sources.

IR golf event will help several causes

IRON RIVER—Sixty golfers took part during a Rally for a Cure event at Iron River Country Club on July 15.
Of the funds raised, $1,200 was sent to the Susan G. Komen organizaion.
