Forest Park’s girls track team and Coach Chandra Ziegler celebrate winning the Division 3 regional meet championship May 16 at North Dickinson. After the picture, they went on a victory lap. FELCH—Forest Park’s girls track team earned the team trophy at the Division 3 regional tournament held here May 16, and the Trojan boys team claimed second place.

IRON RIVER—With the short spring season quickly nearing its end, West Iron’s boys tennis team two of three dual matches recently. The third match, at Negaunee, ended in a 4-4 tie.

IRON RIVER—West Iron County’s girls continued their winning ways May 7 by winning a four-team meet at Kingsford. The Wykons won six events, and both Cassilyn Pellizzer and Victoria Hoogenboom won twice. The Wykons also finished first at a quadrangular held at Nelson Field on May 10.

West Iron’s Cassilyn Pellizzer and Forest Park’s Georgie Dohl battle for the lead in the 100-meter high hurdles event during the Badger Invitational in Niagara on April 30. Pellizzer won the event, Dohl was third, and the Wykons’ Alexis Golfis (next to Pellizzer) was fourth. IRON RIVER—In conditions that couldn’t have been more different, West Iron’s girls track team won its first two outdoor meets of the season last week.

Austin Waara, shown here in a match at Nelson Field last spring, will lead West Iron’s boys tennis team this seaon. Waara won the U.P. Division 2 first singles championship the last two years. IRON RIVER—All U.P. boys tennis teams will be playing catch-up this season, as repeated rounds of wintry weather kept them out of competition and off the courts until late in April.
