Bob McCarthy of Sunset Lake had a different type of “spring peepers” than frogs. “It’s been a long winter and there’s still a lot of snow on the ground. The deer are pretty desperate for food and have been coming by since January for the sunflower seeds I feed to the birds. Normally they will come in the yard and check the feeders farthest from the house. But these are desperate times and they feel the homeowner needs a little coaxing. They now come right to the family room window trying to get my attention,” he wrote. (McCarthy photo)
