CRYSTAL FALLS—The Iron County Medical Care Facility Auxiliary has scheduled a flea market at the facility’s upper parking lot on Saturday, July 12.
The group will have 30-plus different booths, offering a wide selection of items, including jewelry, garden art, quilted items, baked goods, dog treats, food, collectables and much more.
This event was a result of a brainstorm meeting to change its fundraising summer event from the Strawberry Social to something that would bring in a bit more money.
“With the local berry farm closing, our sponsor passing away and no longer an available outdoor pavilion, it became very hard to get the public involved and make it a profitable event” said an auxiliary spokesperson.
All proceeds from the event go toward birthday gifts for every resident.
Kevin Upperstrom, a professional music provider, will play some “oldies” and food will be available throughout the day.
The auxiliary has been active selling raffle tickets all spring for a beautiful handmade quilt, made and donated by Maxine Hookanson.
The quilt is named “Bricks and Mortar” to go with the facility’s recent building project. The drawing for the quilt will be at 1 p.m. and tickets will still be available right up until the drawing. The winner need not be present.
