IRON COUNTY--The 2013 Gifts from Santa program will begin in October. The Iron County Golden K Club, sponsors of the event, with the able help of the Caspian Progressive Men’s Club and the Crystal Falls Lions Club, will soon kick off the event.
As in the past, the campaign will consist of two phases, the sale of raffle tickets (for which there are 24 or more great prizes) and the placemat program. Placemat name solicitations will again be done by personal contact to most businesses in the county, by word of mouth or mail to individuals, organizations, churches and some businesses.
A letter of explanation will be given to all for charitable tax write off purposes. While the sponsors welcome gifts of any amount, a contribution of $15 or more will get the donor listed on the placemats.
The committee hopes to hear from former residents who live out of town and perhaps get their information from relatives or friends who live here. Placemats will be distributed to local restaurants.
The deadline is Nov. 14 for the printing. Contributions should be made out to “Gifts from Santa,” and mailed to, P.O. Box 139, Iron River, Mich. 49935. They can also be given to any member of the Crystal Falls Lions Club, Caspian Progressive Men Club or the Iron County Golden K Club.
Raffle ticket sales will begin the third weekend in October. This program provides a relatively substantial Christmas gift to each resident of a nursing or care home in Iron County, namely, Iron County Medical Care Facility, Iron River Care Center and Boyington Place. These facilities have about 300 residents.
In the past, the support and generosity of the community has helped to make this program a huge success for 18 years.
