CRYSTAL FALLS—After two losses to start its season, Forest Park’s junior varsity football team earned its first win of the season Sept. 12, defeating Hurley 38-0 at Dick Mettlach Field here.
The Trojans got first quarter touchdown runs by Paul Santi (20 yards) and Andrew Taylor (36 yards). Taylor’s two-point run gave FP a 14-0 after the first quarter.
In the second frame, Santi ran for a 45-yard TD, and QB Dodge Isaacson passed to Louie Olson for a 71-yard TD play. FP led 30-0 at halftime and added a 57-yard scoring run by Taylor in the fourth quarter. Taylor added the two-point conversion for the 38-0 final score.
Forest Park finished with 406 total yards (335 rushing, 71 passing). Taylor ran 21 times for 203 yards, and Santi had eight attempts for 102 yards. Blocking fullback Jacob DeNell ran five times for 30 yards, and Isaacson’s only pass attempt was good for a 71-yard TD.
Defensive leaders were DeNell with 13 tackles and Jeremy Johnson with eight. Olson had an interception.
Forest Park will visit West Iron County at Nelson Field on Sept. 19. They will host North Central on Sept. 26 and travel to North Dickinson Oct. 5.
