CRYSTAL FALLS— At its regular quarterly meeting on Aug. 21, the 100+ Women of Iron County voted to give their second donation to the Crystal Falls Contemporary Center.
Six organizations were nominated at the meeting and three of them were randomly drawn to give a five minute presentation to explain who they are and why they would benefit from such a large donation. The three to present were the Salvation Army the Crystal Falls Contemporary Center, and the Northwoods Animal Shelter.
The 100+ Women of Iron County is constantly growing. They had 154 participants this time around. There were eight individual memberships and 42 teams. Together these women donated a very impressive $5027.
The Crystal Falls Contemporary Center is a local non-profit organization in Crystal Falls that serves the community in several ways. They host various classes for all ages, family fun night events; they also allow people to rent the center for their events, and much more.
The CFCC plans to put this donation towards building improvements. “We are very excited to receive this money and plan to use it toward   the much needed upgrading of the front of our center building and have high hopes to make the difference at our upcoming beer and wine tasting fundraiser!” says President of the Board, Jennifer Ketola.
This donation will not cover the full cost of such a large project but the Center hopes that their upcoming Beer & Wine Tasting Fundraiser will cover what this donation cannot.
The Beer & Wine Tasting Fundraiser is being held on October 19 from 7-9p.m. at the center. Guests will enjoy selections from Keweenaw Brewing Company and Bink’s Wine. Tickets are $25 presale or $30 at the door.
Anyone wishing to purchase tickets or make a donation may visit Crystal Lumber, Lud Stoor Agency, or Chris’ Hair Studio. You may also call the center 906-875-4595 or email cfcontemporarycenter@gmail.com. The Contemporary Center can also be found on Facebook.
The next 100+ Women of Iron County meeting will be held Thursday, November 21 at the George Young Recreational Complex. Registration and social hour will begin at 5pm and the meeting will begin at 6pm. Anyone wishing to join may attend the meeting and register as an individual or as a team. Teams can be two - four women.
