CRYSTAL FALLS—Elvis tribute artist Tony Rocker and the Comeback Special Band will celebrate memorable hits of the King of Rock ‘n Roll at Crystal Theatre Sunday, Aug. 11, at 6 p.m.  The event is part of Crystal Theatre’s eight-event “Gem of a Season.”
Growing up, Tony Rocker remembers listening to Elvis singing “Kentucky Rain” and “In the Ghetto.”  He imagined himself on stage performing and thought, “If only I had the opportunity, I know I would sing with heart.”
As a teen, Rocker and his friends would try to mimic the Doo Wop groups from the 50s.  In his late teens, he learned to play guitar and played drums for many years.
The opportunity finally came to get out from behind the drums and perform an Elvis Tribute Show.  Rocker says, “When I put on my first jump suit, it felt right.”
After performing for seven years with the first Comeback Special Band, Rocker asked Frank Adamo, bass guitarist and long-time friend, to put together a new band.  Adamo brought in some of the best musicians to form the new Tony Rocker and The Comeback Special Band.
In addition to Adamo, the band reunites several musicians from other groups:  Rich Heft on rhythm guitar, Jeff Basham on drums, Ray Berggren on trumpet and keyboard and Paul Emersun on lead guitar.
Advanced tickets for the concert may be purchased for $20 at Ben Franklin’s in Crystal Falls, Central Arts and Gifts and the Iron County Chamber Office in Iron River, Steamin’ Joe’s in Florence, and The Music Tree in Iron Mountain. Tickets may also be purchased online at or by phoning 906-367-4072.  Admission at the door is $25 for adults and $10 for youths under 18.
