Trojan girls 3rd at D3 finals PDF Print E-mail

KINGSFORD—Forest Park’s girls track team finished in third place and the boys came in 10th during the Division 3 U.P. Finals tournament, held at Flivver Field here June 1.
The girls took third place with 47 team points. St. Ignace dominated the day with 121 points, and Brimley took second with 57. Pickford was fourth with 40.
The Lady Trojans’ best finish came in the 400 relay, with the team of Maria Stankewicz, Libby Shamion, Katie McCole and Mary Grandahl finishing second in 53.82 seconds. FP’s 800 and 1600 relay teams both finished third.
In individual events, Forest Park’s best results came from Stankewicz, who was third in the 100, and Grandahl, third in the 200. Grandahl (100), Georgie Dohl (100 high hurdles) and Amanda Bustillos (1600) all had fourths.
Other team points came from Kendra Campbell in the 100 high hurdles and Bustillos in the 3200. The Lady Trojans were shut out in the field events.

Relays: 800 relay: 3. FP (Stankewicz, Campbell, Katie McCole, Dohl), 1:52.79. 400 relay: 2. FP (Stankewicz, Libby Shamion, McCole, Grandahl), 53.82. 1600 relay: 3. FP (Dohl, Stankewicz, Shamion, Grandahl), 4:32.66.
The Trojan boys finished with 22 team points. North Dickinson won the team title by rolling up 77 points, Pickford claimed second with 51, and St. Ignace was third at 48.
Forest Park’s best finishes came from Derek Aberly, who was third in the 400, and the 1600-meter relay team, which also was third.
The Trojans’ other three relay teams also earned team points, as did Chris Hilberg in high jump.
