CRYSTAL FALLS—The Forest Park Music Department and Art Department have scheduled a concert and art show on Tuesday, March 19, at 7 p.m.
The concert will take place in the Eddie Chambers Memorial Gymnasium, and the art exhibit will be held in the cafeteria.
The band concert begins with a performance by the Middle School Band (grades 6 & 7), which will perform: “An Australian Se Ballad,” arranged by Robert Sheldon; “The Spirit of an Eagle” by Larry Clark; “Yorktown March” by John Edmundson; and “Music from The Little Mermaid,” arranged by Michael Sweeney.
The Senior High Band (grades 8-12) will then take the stage and perform “Prestissimo” by Karl King; “Danny Boy,” arranged by Samuel Hazo; “Sunburst” by Erik Morales; and “Music from Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire,” arranged by Michael Story.
During the concert, the Senior Band Scholarships, sponsored by the Music Boosters, will be awarded, along with the Arion Award. This award is given to a graduating senior who has shown leadership and musicianship during their time as a band member.
The art show will take place following the concert in the cafeteria. Art students will be displaying works they are proud of that they have done throughout the year. Also on display will be work from a current project, “The Memory Project,” which is a unique initiative that pairs high school artists with pictures of children in orphanages around the world.
The artists’ portraits are then sent to those children as a special memento from their childhood. Students who have finished their portraits will have them displayed along with the original picture of the child.
A social will be held in the cafeteria following the concert. All performers, artists, families and community members are invited to attend.
