CRYSTAL FALLS TWP.—Residents of Crystal Falls Township are having a problem with their trash bags. They are, well, trash.
“Every bag I’ve had in this batch has done this,” Supervisor Tom Lesandrini said as he gently pulled the two halves of a trash bag apart during the Crystal Falls Township Feb.15 meeting.

The problem of substandard bags has prompted township officials to consider switching from selling either stickers or trash bags for residents’ garbage disposal to exclusively stickers that can be applied to any bag with trash weighing less than 30 pounds.
At the March 11 meeting, officals will discuss providing only stickers, Lesandrini said. “It’s not official, but it is something we are going to talk about. We would save about $7,000 a year by switching to garbage stickers.”
