Fire departments set plans for Fire Prevention events PDF Print E-mail

IRON COUNTY—The West Iron County Fire Department will sponsor an open house in observance of Fire Prevention Week on Monday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the West Iron County Fire Hall, located at 641 Ninth Ave. here.
 All youngsters and adults are welcome.


 “Come enjoy rides on the fire trucks, bounce in the Dalmatian bounce house and DeTech will be there with Flash the fire dog,” said organizers.
 Fire extinguisher classes will be at 5:30 and 6:30. There will be prizes, snacks, and refreshments.
 The Caspian-Gaastra Fire Department will hold its Fire Prevention program at West Iron County School on Thursday, Oct. 11. (Rain makeup day is Oct. 12).
 Members of the Caspian-Gaastra Fire Department will be on hand to teach students how to prevent fires and what to do if there is a fire in their home.
 “We will be doing demonstrations and give the students a hands-on feel of how to put out a fire in our doll house, donated by Home Builders Inc.,” said a spokesperson.
 “We will conclude with our annual coloring contest. Winners from each grade will be picked up and given a ride to school in our fire truck the following week.”
 The Alpha-Mastodon Fire Department and the Crystal Falls Fire Department will be at Forest Park Schools Friday, Oct. 12, beginning at 9 a.m. presenting programs for kindergarten through fifth grade students.
