CRYSTAL FALLS—Hungry for the melodies of the ‘60s and ‘70s?
Studebaker 7, a band with a nostalgic name, will serve up a hearty musical buffet at Crystal Theatre Sunday, July 29, at 2 p.m. The event is part of the theatre’s 2012 “Gem of a Season.”
Originally formed in 1973 for a fraternity party, the band performed together for 14 years, including three consecutive years at Milwaukee’s Summerfest.
During the ‘70s, the group produced two records. “One Fine Day” reached No. 2 on the Midwest Top 40 Pop Chart.
The band reformed in 2002 with six original members. Based out of the LaCrosse, Wis., area, the group has opened for Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show and The Number One Beatles Tribute Show in the World.
Studebaker 7 performs hits of the most popular groups from the era, including the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, the Beach Boys and the Supremes.
They also sing solo hits by artists ranging from Aretha Franklin and Linda Ronstadt to Neil Sedaka and Johnny Cash.
“You can’t buy a Studebaker anymore, but you can enjoy the old favorites sung by Studebaker 7,” said Theatre Manager Charlie Sandstrom. “You’ll definitely leave the theatre singing yourself!”
Advanced tickets for the event are available for $12 at Ben Franklin’s in Crystal Falls, Central Arts and Gifts and the Iron County Chamber Office in Iron River, Steamin’ Joe Coffeehouse in Florence, and The Music Tree in Iron Mountain.
Tickets may also be purchased online at thecrystaltheatre.org or by phoning 875-6867. Admission at the door is $15 for adults and $5 for youths under 18.
