CHANNING—Pack your tip-ups and outdoor winter gear and get set to enjoy winter fun on Saturday, Feb. 4, for the 38th annual Tip-Up Town of the U.P.
 Both fishing and on-the-ice drag racing highlight the annual event, held in Channing.
 Sponsored by the Sagola Township Sportsmen’s Club, the event takes place on both Sawyer and Edey lakes. Participants and spectators alike will enjoy the fishing contest, snowmobile and ATV races, food and refreshments.


 Dash for the Cash has a $10 entry fee, no classes, no studs and a 90 percent payback. There is one race for “wheelers” and one race for “snowmobiles.” Races start at 11 a.m.: 3-4 Wheelers 660’- Drag Races on Eddy Lake; Snowmobile 660’ - Drag Racing on Eddy Lake; Junior Drags - Kitty Kat and 120 Races - no fee, stock only, trophies awarded.
 There will be music after the racing
 The ice fishing contest is one day only on Sawyer Lake. There are cash prizes, adult and kids classes. Registration begins at 7 a.m. on the ice. Must have a button and be registered. The contest runs from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with prizes being given out after the contest at the clubhouse.
 The Sagola Township Sportsmen’s Clubhouse is located four miles north of Channing on Sawyer Lake Road.
 Dress warmly to participate in the events or come as a spectator.
