IRON RIVER—The Windsor Center on Adams Street (U.S. 2) is offering new programs for 2012.
Futsal (soccer indoors) begins Friday, Jan. 6, for ages 6 and up, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. There is a $1 charge per player.
Futsal is soccer played between two teams on a hard court floor with boundaries and goals.
Unlike indoor soccer, walls and boards are not used. Futsal is played with a small ball with less bounce than a regular soccer ball.
The rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces.
Futsal originated in South America in 1930 and today is worldwide.
Firm and Fabulous for Fifty + begins Wednesday, Jan. 4, from 9 to 10 a.m.
This program is free to residents of Bates Township, Iron River Township, Stambaugh Township and the city of Iron River.
There is a $2 fee per class for non-residents.
This is a low to medium impact class that includes a variety of exercises for strength and balance, strong muscles and healthy joints for area Baby Boomers.
A mat is required for this class.
Senior Fit expands to two days per week beginning Monday, Jan. 2.
Classes will be held Mondays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and Wednesdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
This program is also free to residents of Bates Township, Iron River Township, Stambaugh Township and the city of Iron River. Non-resident fee is $2 per class.
This is a low impact class for seniors that include strength, stretching and balance exercises.
