Time to come together
Tuesday, March 08, 2011 9:24 AM

We’ve become a very angry country in the past couple of years. No one seems interested in resolving issues by putting them ALL out on the table for discussion and discourse.
We’ve also seemed to have lost our sense of common courtesy and common decency. It used to be that our belief in our rights as citizens of a free country extended to our neighbors. We’ve lost that touch. We’re right and you’re wrong seems to be the prevailing philosophy.

Thanks Allyce. I've been reading the Reporter for about a year now. Living in the "progressive" state of Wisconsin, I am getting sick of the "my way or the highway" attitudes on both sides of every issue. Both sides are wrong almost every time, and that means they aren't acknowledging that the 'other' side might just be right. We are entering the first period of American history where our children will have lower wages and a lower life expectancy than their parents. The economy is not coming "back" because it was based on perpetual growth rather than real sustainable needs. Everyone wanted to be a rock star and nobody wanted to be a farmer or miner or woodsman. A lot of this is due to the most educated among us believing that their credentials are more important than their neighbor's labors, and vice versa. Survival is a team sport. Nobody is secure if their neighbor is hungry.
