BATES TOWNSHIP – An unexpected treasure welcomed the Bates Hall Preservation Society (BHPS) as volunteers gathered to begin their annual rummage sale June 23. The Society holds various fundraisers with the goal of moving the 1907 historic Bates Township Hall over and onto a new foundation. The Hall is too close to U.S. 2 and the Bates Amasa Road causing issues with the present field stone basement to rapidly deteriorate.
