CRYSTAL FALLS/IRON RIVER — After the Forest Park Trojans bested the West Iron Wykons in a hard-fought Sept. 26 match, this week saw both volleyball teams nab wins.
The Wykons bested Chasell in three sets on Oct. 3 to improve their record to 4–3 on the season, while the Trojans continued their winning streak when they took down North Central the same night, bringing  their record to 7–0.
After a decisive victory in three sets (25–9, 25–13, 15–9) West Iron Coach Konnor Bjorkman was pleased.
“The girls did very well,” Bjorkman said. “They were positive and worked as a team.”
Sophomore Lily DeSousa recorded two aces and 13 digs in the Wykon victory.
“We’ve all been progressing and are starting to trust each other more,” she said.
The Lady Trojans of Forest Park remain unbeaten after winning against Munising on Sept. 28 and against North Central on Oct. 3.
It was an easy three-set victory against North Central (25–10, 25–13, 25–14) to maintain the team’s perfect record on the season. Coach Bobbie Anderson stated,
“The girls did a nice job finding the open spots in North Central’s defense and played aggressively the entire set,” said Coach Bobbie Anderson.
Senior Leah Feldhausen recorded eight kills, three blocks and an ace in the victory.
“I think we played as a team to our full potential tonight,” she said. “We had good energy and very few mistakes.”
Both teams enter the second half of their seasons scheduled to play teams they have seen before.
