Trojans finish 2nd, 3rd at SCC tourney

FP’s Colton Mihelich is right on Reggie Johnson’s heels during the 800-meter run at North Dickinson. Johnson held on to win, but Mihelich was less than a second behind.
CRYSTAL FALLS—Forest Park’s girls team finished in second place, and the boys took third at the Skyline Central Conference golf championships, held at the George Young Golf Course on May 18.
    Three players from both teams were named to the all-conference team, which includes the top 10 finishers in both the boys and girls division.
    Hannah Cross third place in girls individual play with an 18-hole score of 112. Other team membes are Adel Isaacson, 118; Annie Taylor, 122; Avery Sommers, 131; and Aline Soha, 131.
    Cross, Isaacson and Taylor were all named to the all-SCC girls team. Bark River-Harris won the girls meet with a score of 459, and the Broncos’ Hannah Starnes was medalist with a 96. Forest Park finished second at 483.
    On the boys’ side, Dennis Mitchell (91) and Brett Smithson (93) led the Trojans. They were followed by Ray Hagglund (102), Paul Santi (107) and James Olson (121).
    Mitchell, Smithson and Hagglund earned places on the all-SCC team. Munising won the team title with 355, followed by Carney-Nadeau at 373 and Forest Park at 393. Carney’s Hunter Eichorn was medalist, shooting an 81.
    ● The Division 3 U.P. Finals take place May 28 at Gladstone Irish Oaks (boys) and Escanaba Country Club (girls).
