Trojan JH teams tip off seasons

CRYSTAL FALLS—The Forest Park seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball teams recently tipped off their seasons with three home dates.
    On Nov. 1, the Trojans hosted Kingsford. In the eighth-grade game, FP fell to the Flivvers 49-6. Kingsford took a 22-0 lead after the first quarter and was never threatened. Jack Gasperich, Samuel McKissack and Devan Basicico each had a bucket for the Trojans.
    In the seventh-grade game, FP dropped a 42-25 decision. Once again, Kingsford burst out of the gates with an 18-1 lead after the first quarter. The Trojans scored 14 of their points in the final period.
    Gaven Rintala led FP with nine points, while Adan Brazeika added six and Felix Quevedo chipped in with four.
    On Nov. 5, FP’s eighth-grade squad lost to Norway 44-18. McKissack paced the Trojans with eight points, while Daniel James contributed four.
    In the seventh-grade contest, Norway outscored Forest Park 17-10 in the final quarter to pull away for a 46-33 triumph. The Trojans were paced by Brazeika’s nine points, while Rintala chipped in with seven and Drake Rouse recorded six.
    Finally, the Trojan eighth-graders dropped a 50-16 decision to Iron Mountain on Nov. 8. The Mountaineers held a 24-10 lead at halftime but broke the game open with a 10-2 run in the third quarter.
    McKissack led FP with seven points, while Hunter Loehr had four.
    In the seventh-grade game, the Mountaineers took a 19-5 lead after the first quarter and eventually subdued the Trojans 57-18. Brazeika led FP with six points to go with five from Quevedo.
