UPPER PENINSULA - Chasing Plaid Riders from all over the country embark on the Upper Peninsula, July 28 – August 6, for one day, three days or all 10 days for a once in a lifetime cycling ride. Tour Da Yoop, eh is a 10-day, 1,200-mile adventure around the perimeter of the U.P. showcasing its amazing beauty and communities in support of our two main causes, Bike Safety and Childhood Cancer.
Tour Da Yoop, Eh and U.P. Lions Childhood Cancer teamed up to promote and raise funds for the Lions Childhood Cancer program. To-date it has been a wonderful success. During last year’s event, we were able to raise more than $55,000 for U.P. Kids and Families coping with Childhood Cancer.
Eighty-one U.P. Families have benefited from support thus far. This year, we hope to raise $100,000 through riders fundraising and a rider challenge Dollar for Dollar Match. The monetary donations help with travel costs, medical and household expenses, and other requirements related to the diagnosis.
In an effort to keep cyclists off major roads as much as possible, TDY’S Founder, James Studinger, works with numerous national, regional, and local organizations to advocate for road improvements that will give cyclers a safer path. Safety is paramount in an event like this, and you will see riders pedaling along with orange camo jerseys, directional signs on route, safety volunteers, Ride with GPS, and law enforcement where needed. Some riders will be wearing the coveted Plaid Jersey – www.chasingplaid.com. The Plaid jersey showcases the milestones achieved and symbolizes the core of what this ride is about, being capable of more than we realize. This year we will be riding a collective 40,000 miles and awarding a record 30 Plaid jerseys.
This event is made possible by so many sponsors, partners, donors, and volunteers and we are grateful for your kindness and support.
You too have the chance to assist the fundraising efforts of the Lions Childhood Cancer Program by giving @ https://www.tourdayoopeh.com/childhood-cancer. We have a rider challenge dollar for dollar match, so any monetary donation you contribute will be matched dollar for dollar.
