Girls tennis player Katarina Serbentas and girls basketball player Colbi Laturi signed NCAA Division 3 “Student-Athlete Celebratory Signing Forms” with Webster University near St. Louis and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, respectively, at a ceremony held at the  high school. Caden Pellizzer announced he was accepted as a preferred walk-on for the Division 2 Northern Michigan University football team.
The signing forms basically state that each athlete has been accepted at the university and intends to participate in their sport during the 2019-20 academic year. The form also states that the athlete embraces the Division III philosophy, but the signing does not obligate the athlete to attend the university and participate and does not guarantee a roster spot.
Webster University women’s tennis coach Martha Davis-Goldstein said Serbentas caught her eye when she played at one of Davis-Goldstein’s tournaments last June.
“There I had the opportunity to see her compete and was impressed with her talent,” Davis-Goldstein said in an email. “While working with her throughout the recruitment process, I have personally gotten to know Katarina very well and she has exceptional character and is an excellent student. She possesses many attributes that will contribute positively to our program. I look forward to coaching Katarina throughout her collegiate tennis career.”
