Tefft, Shamion power WIC girls

IRON RIVER—With two wins each from Rachael Tefft and Jordan Shamion and one from Bryant Schram, West Iron County’s track team made a strong showing at the Norway Invitational track meet on May 7.
    Tefft, who won both throwing events, and Shamion, who won both hurdles races, led the Wykon girls to first place in the team standings.
    Tefft finished first in discus with a throw of 105 feet, nearly 12 feet better than second place. Her throw of 31 feet, 11 inches. won shot put.
    Shamion won the 100 high hurdles in 17.61 seconds, and she and Piper Passamani finished 1-2 in the 300 low hurdles with times of 53.03 and 54.78, respectively.
    Avery Bociek finished second in two events, the 1600 run (6:13:15) and the 800 (2:43.31). She was also third in long jump (15-4) and fifth in the 3200. Zoe Kolenda was third in the 1600 (6:21:31) and fourth in both the 800 and 3200.
    Other fourths went to Sam Herman in the 400, Piper Passamani in the 100 high hurdles and the 1600 and 3200 relay teams.
    Sixths went to Shamion in the 200, Rudi Passamani in long jump and the 800 relay team.
