Pellizzer, Nylund, Hendrickson earn all-U.P. boys recognition
MARQUETTE—West Iron County senior Caden Pellizzer and Forest Park seniors Max Nylund and Riley Hendrickson were recognized by the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association for inclusion in the all-U.P. boys basketball teams for 2018-19.
Pellizzer was named to the Division 1-3 first team, while Nylund was picked to the Division 4 second team and Hendrickson was given special mention in Division 4.
Division 3 state runner-up Iron Mountain dominated the Division 1-3 selections. Sophomore Foster Wonders was named Mr. U.P. Basketball, while junior Marcus Johnson joined Wonders on the dream team.
Iron Mountain coach Bucky Johnson was selected as the Division 1-3 coach of the year and the Mountaineers were named the Division 3 team of the year.
The Division 4 player of the year was senior Andrew Blanchard of Engadine, while Dollar Bay’s Jesse Kentala was named Division 4 coach of the year and Brimley was chosen as Division 4 team of the year.
Marquette was named the Division 1-2 team of the year.
The rest of the dream team included Marius Grazulis of Marquette, Reece Castor of Gladstone and Matt Ojala of Calumet.
Joining Pellizzer on the Division 1-3 first team were Jared Nash of Escanaba, Brad Sirad of Houghton, Tucker Taylor of Gwinn and Jason Waterman of Negaunee.
The Division 4 first team included Blanchard, Jaden Borseth of Ewen-Trout Creek, Marcus Harris of Brimley, Ashton Janke of Dollar Bay and Anthony Mattson of Munising.
