Mustangs gallop past Forest Park
CRYSTAL FALLS—Forest Park’s young basketball team battled Munising hard in the first half Jan. 10 and took a one-point lead into the locker room at halftime.
But the Mustangs asserted themselves in the second half, claiming a 77-63 win over the Trojans at the Eddie Chambers Gym.
It drops FP’s season record to 4-4—their Jan. 7 game at Kingsford was snowed out.
With three sophomore starters, the Trojans played at a disadvantage against the athletic and senior-led Mustangs. “All in all, I was proud of our kids’ performance,” coach Chris Nocerini said later. “We played three good quarters of basketball.”
Down by 10 after the first quarter, the Trojans fought back with a 23-12 second quarter to lead 36-35 at the break. Munising came back to lead 57-53 going into the fourth quarter.
