Lady Trojans turn back IM rally

CRYSTAL FALLS—In a game of rallies, Forest Park’s fourth quarter surge proved decisive, earning the Lady Trojans a 52-45 nonconference win over Iron Mountain Jan. 25, in a contest delayed two nights by a snowstorm.
The win boosts the Lady Trojans’ overall record to .500, at 6-6. They remain 5-4 in the Skyline Central Conference.
To FP coach Jackie Giuliani, it was a milestone for her young team. “I just wrote on the locker room board: We are now 6-6, which makes us even again,” she said just after the game. “Now it’s time to put some numbers in that win column.”
The Lady Trojans outscored IM 16-6 over the game’s final six minutes to get the win. In fact, the Lady Trojans led most of the night—they were up by 14 in the second quarter and by 10 in the third.
But the Mountaineers never quit and staggered FP in the second half with a 14-2 surge that put the visitors ahead 39-36 with seven minutes left.
That’s when Forest Park made the decisive stroke.
