Lady Trojans trip BRH Broncos

CRYSTAL FALLS—What better way is there to prepare for a district tournament battle against a team ranked in the U.P. Class D poll than by beating another team ranked in the U.P. Class D poll?
Forest Park’s girls basketball team finished its regular season Feb. 23 at Eddie Chambers Gym with a 49-37 win over Bark River-Harris, ranked third in last week’s Class D poll. The home fans once again saw how much this team has improved over the last few weeks.
The Lady Trojans end the regular season with a 11-9 overall record, 9-5 in the Skyline Central Conference. They play their first game in the Class D District 127 tournament at home on Feb. 28, probably against 15-4 Ewen-Trout Creek.
The Panthers, ranked fifth in last week’s poll, faced 1-19 Republic-Michigamme in a first-round game Feb. 26.
In their final tuneup, the Lady Trojans outscored Bark River-Harris 17-3 in the second quarter to lead 27-16 at halftime. The Broncos rallied to within three points with 6½ minutes left, but FP’s defense blanked them the rest of the way, as the Trojans ended on a 9-0 run.
A great way to celebrate Senior Night, and two of the team’s seniors sounded excited about how much their team has improved lately.
