Lady Trojans battle likely district rival ND
CRYSTAL FALLS — While nothing is certain in sports, the possibility is strong that the Forest Park Lady Trojans district opponent will be North Dickinson, given that the Nordics will be heavy favorites to defeat winless Republic-Michigamme in the first round of the tournament and FP awaits the victor. And so therefore, the game between the two Skyline Central Conference rivals on Feb. 20 was a preview of sorts.
While North Dickinson played from in front for much of the game, the Lady Trojans were within five early in the fourth quarter before the Nordics ran off nine straight points to take control in their 47-36 victory at Eddie Chambers Gymnasium.
ND sophomore guard Ashton Hord scored eight of her game-high 17 points during the final six minutes of the game to help her team complete its sweep Forest Park in the regular season. The Nordics edged the Lady Trojans 39-34 on Jan. 21 in Felch.
In the end, one of the major differences between the teams in the rematch was that North Dickinson (16-2) had three players reach double figures while FP had two.
