Harris, Kinner lead way for Wykon girls track team

IRON RIVER—West Iron County’s girls track team racked up five firsts during the Copper Country Invitational, held April 29 in Houghton, and Victoria Harris had three of them.
    As a team, the Wykon girls finished fifth with 67. The host Gremlins won the team title with 117 2/3 points, followed by Calumet (87.5) and Lake Linden-Hubbell (87).
    Harris won all three distance races, taking first place in the 800 (2 minutes, 33.77 seconds), 1600 (5:49.80) and 3200 (13:14:16).
    West Iron’s other firsts came from Elizabeth Pellizzer, who won the 400 in 1:05.53, and Keeley Nolingberg, who won the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, ½ inch.

    In the boys competition, West Iron claimed fifth place with 55 points. Houghton (183) easily earned first place, followed by Calumet (82) and Lake Linden (60).
