FP Jr. High teams take second in ‘B’ tourneys

CRYSTAL FALLS—The Forest Park seventh grade and eighth grade boys basketball teams closed their seasons by taking second in the “B” Division of the Michigan-Wisconsin Junior High Tournament, held Dec. 17 and Dec. 18 at various sites.
    The Trojans eighth-graders defeated West Iron County 29-27 on Dec. 17 in Crystal Falls to earn their spot in the finals. There, FP fell to Niagara 16-14. In the victory over WIC, Greydon Fischer led the Trojans with 11 points, eight in the first half when FP took an 18-11 lead. Reagan Alder added nine points for the winners. Payton Johnson recorded 13 points for the Wykons, while Matthew Dutcher chipped in with nine.
    In the final, the Trojans made a late run after scoring just two points in the first half but fell short. Michael Saario led the way with six points and Devon Basirico scored four.
