All U.P. grid teams named; Schram dream teamer

MARQUETTE—The Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association’s all-U.P. football teams were selected during its annual football meeting on Nov. 7.
Several Iron County players were chosen, headlined by West Iron County senior Bryant Schram’s selection to the 11-player Dream Team as a defensive tackle.
Schram finished with 42 solo tackles, 35 assisted tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Other Wykon players recognized were junior Brayden Nelson (small school center) and senior lineman Cayne Rowell (honorable mention).
In eight-player football, Forest Park placed four players among the selections. They included senior Jacob Peterson (first team offensive lineman), sophomore Tommy Showers (first team end), junior Tommy Peltoma (first team defensive tackle) and junior Evan Hedtke (linebacker).
Special awards in 11-player football included:

-Division 8 Team of the Year, Ishpeming
-Large School Coach of the Year, Dave Howes, Escanaba
-Small School Coach of the Year, Jeff Olson, Ishpeming
-Mitchell Snyder Lineman of the Year, Sam Gilles, Westwood
