Successful first turkey hunt

Kali Dennis of Iron River harvested her first wild turkey on May 4 while hunting with her boyfriend Andrew Gill in their favorite Iron County spot. Kali shot the bird at 20 yards with an Ithaca Model 37 20 gauge. “After getting the Tom to gobble with an owl hoot, it took six different tries to find a turkey call that the big bird would reply to,” Kali said. “After that, he strutted right in and it was game over.” The turkey had a 9-inch beard, 3/4-inch spurs and weighed 20 pounds.  (submitted photo)
