Spring garden seminar scheduled in Beechwood

BEECHWOOD—A spring garden seminar, sponsored by the Beechwood Historical Society, will be held from 12:30-3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 20 at the Beechwood Hall, located at 178 Beechwood Store Road.
    Registration is from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The event is free to attend.
    Speakers will include Marilyn Malmquist (local gardener at home and at the Iron County Museum) on growing a garden in containers (types of containers, prep, plants, and care); Jen Ricker (Iron-Baraga Conservation District Manager, Invasive Species Technician) on identifying, treating or eating invasive species; and Barbara Simmons and Charlotte Bofinger (local gardeners) on companion plants in the garden and crop rotation; flowering shrubs that do well in this area.”
    “Come with your questions for our speakers and you are sure to be inspired to start gardening when you leave!” Bofinger said.
