Phelps-Land O’Lakes Lions to host fishing tourney
PHELPS, Wis.—The Phelps-Land O’Lakes Lions Club will host its 29th annual Great Northern Ice Fishing Tournament on Jan. 24. The event will be held at the West Shore boat landing on Lac Vieux Desert, with registration briefing beginning at 8 a.m. There will be a morning contest that runs from 8 a.m. to noon and an afternoon contest taking place from noon to 4 p.m. There will be cash prizes for the largest fish in each of five categories: northern, walleye, perch, crappie and bluegill.
The tournament dinner will be held at The Derby Loft at the Snowmobile Derby Track in Eagle River, immediately following the tournament. The bar opens for a social hour at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. Door prizes, tournament prizes and great raffle prizes will be awarded during the dinner.
Registration is $50 per person in advance, which includes dinner, and additional dinner guests are $15 per person. Registration is due no later than Jan. 17.

All proceeds from the tournament are used to fund local charities and individuals. The Phelps-Land O’Lakes Lions Club is a local nonprofit club established nearly 30 years ago dedicated to service in our communities.
