IRONWOOD — The Ottawa National Forest announced that work to replace the fishing piers at Henry Lake on the Bessemer Ranger District began Sept.1, and will continue throughout the month.
Work will occur on weekdays only.
Henry Lake is a popular family fishing location and the well-used, accessible fishing piers have been deteriorating over the past several years. This project will include removal of the old piers, placement of pilings and installation of new, floating piers.
During construction, use of the existing dock and access to the immediate area will be closed for the safety of visitors and construction workers. The boat launch will remain open, however, access may be delayed and/or limited due to the presence of construction equipment, workers and materials.
“Please be patient as this work is being conducted,” said Lisa Klaus, public affairs administrative officer. “As always, we encourage visitors to the forest to use caution in and around construction areas; including roadways, which may see increased construction traffic. Please obey all closures and directional signage, which are provided to help ensure the safety of everyone in the area.
“We look forward to completing this project and inviting the public back to this popular recreation area.”
