Iron County Sharp Shooters competed in local tournament

CHANNING— On June 9, the Iron County Sharp Shooters attended the 4-H Sharp Shooters Tournament at the Sagola Township Sportsmen’s Club in Channing. The youth competed in archery, air-rifle, .22 rifle and bb-gun. The Sharp Shooters brought home a total of 16 medals to Iron County.
Before awards, there was a tribute for Sharp Shooter departed 4-H club leader Marvin Hill who passed earlier this year. It was given by club member Mindy McKinnon followed by a moment of silence.
Four veteran Sharp Shooter club members will continue on to the state competition held on Aug. 2 in Kimball.  
Iron County shooters who competed in the regional tournament were Mindy McKinnon, Caitlyn Bloomberg, Brennon Gursky, Brittany Cunningham, Dylan Nordurft, Kailee Abts, Seth Ryan and Dane Ryan.
Iron County Sharpshooters are coached by Cynthia Absolon, Doug Weesner, Barbara Luck, Alfred Absolon and Les Kufahl.
Several Iron County 4-H Sharp Shooters placed at competition. Names and finishes are as follows:
Mindy McKinnon: second in individual air-rifle, first in team air rifle, third in unsighted archery, second in team archery;
Caitlyn Bloomberg: first in team air-rifle, second in team archery;
 Brennon Gursky: second in individual archery open, second in team archery, first in individual bb-gun junior, first in team bb-gun junior;
Brittany Cunningham: third in individual .22 rifle senior;
Dylan Nordurft: first in air-rifle team;
Kailee Abts: second in team archery;
Seth Ryan: third in individual bb-gun junior, first in team bb- gun junior;
Dane Ryan: third in team bb-gun beginner
