Grow It, Cook It, Eat It classes set

IRON MOUNTAIN—Grow It, Cook It, Eat It, a cooking with fresh produce series, is being offered through the Michigan State University Extension.
    Classes are held from 6-8 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 808 Carpenter Ave. in Iron Mountain.  
     The next class in the series will be held on Monday, Aug. 24 and is titled “Root for the Root Vegetables.” The final class will be held on Sept. 14 and concerns squash and pumpkins.
    Those who register by Aug. 20 will receive the early bird rate of $20, or $30 for couples.
    Every participant will get an opportunity to enjoy a meal of freshly prepared recipes, a recipe book, and educational materials related to growing and preparing vegetables.
    The classes are open to anyone interested in learning about various vegetables - what they taste like, proper harvest or selection, preparation and use in recipes.  
    There are taste testing and recipe sampling and participants will assist with recipe preparation and receive a recipe book for each type of produce.
