Get geared up for Tip-Up-Town of the U.P.
CHANNING—Ice fishing, snowmobile and any enthusiasts of the Upper Peninsula are invited to attend the 41st annual Tip-Up-Town of the U.P. on Feb. 7. The event is hosted by the Sagola Township Sportsmen’s Club. Purchase of a $5 button gets spectators into the events. Kids under 12 are free except for fishing.
The annual ice fishing contest registration will begin at 7 a.m. on the ice of Sawyer Lake in Channing. Fishing will take place from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be cash prizes for both adult and kids classes. Participants must have an event button and be registered. Prizes will be awarded after the contest at the clubhouse.
The Mid America Snow and Terrain Expert Racers (MASTERS) Snow Drags will take place on Saturday on Eddy Lake behind the Sagola Township Sportsmen’s clubhouse. At noon, the snowmobile racing will begin with the 120 cc kids’ class. Racing will continue with trail stock, race stock and the modified classes. The race will conclude with the Top Gun feature. Racers will compete for cash and trophies.
There will be food and drinks available at the clubhouse, including brats, hot dogs, burgers and fries. There will be raffles and entertainment also.
