Gardening program to be held at local libraries

LANSING— Thinking spring? Interested in learning more about home gardening topics and ideas? Join Michigan State University Extension’s Consumer Horticulture Educator Rebecca Krans for a series of four Saturday sessions of gardening at Iron County’s public libraries.
     The May session will be held at the Crystal Falls Community District Library in Crystal Falls and the April session will be held at the West Iron District Library in Iron River.
    The May topic is “Mix it Up! Vegetables and Flowers”. The program will take place on May 9 from 10-11 a.m. at the Crystal Falls Community District Library. It is free and open to any interested in gardening.
    During the “Mix it Up! Vegetables and Flowers” program, discover ways to bring vegetables that look good into your gardening while making use of smart gardening principles. Identify different vegetable types that will bring color, texture and interest to your garden. Get a free seed packet to mix it up in your garden.
