Community reception for Baumgartner set for March 9

IRON RIVER—To celebrate Nick Baumgartner’s fourth-place finish in the 2018 Winter Olympics snowboardcross race and to welcome him home, a community reception will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Friday, March 9, at Ski Brule Lodge.
To kick off the reception, Baumgartner will be presented with a token from Iron County leadership at 5 p.m. Afterward, attendees will have the opportunity to greet Baumgartner, take photos with him and enjoy a complimentary treat.
The event is free to attend, and food and drinks will be available for purchase.
“Nick was a great rep for the spirit of the U.P. at the games, and the community has just been beaming with pride,” said Erika Lindwall, chamber director of the Iron County Economic Chamber Alliance, which is coordinating the event. “We’re so excited to offer Nick’s friends, neighbors and fellow Yoopers a chance to shake his hand and let him know how much we appreciate his community spirit.”
Steven Polich, Ski Brule event manager, said he’s excited for the event.
“We’ve been honored to be a long-time supporter of Nick and couldn’t be more proud of the talent that he’s cultivated right here at Brule,” Polich said. “We hope to see a great community turn out at the reception.”
