Catch some fun at Great Northern Ice Fishing Tournament, Jan. 27

PHELPS, Wis.—The Phelps-Land O’Lakes Lions Club will host its 32nd annual Great Northern Ice Fishing Tournament on Jan. 27.
    The event will be held at the West Shore boat landing on Lac Vieux Desert near Sunrise Lodge, with registration briefing beginning at 8 a.m.
    There will be a morning contest (8 a.m. to noon) and an afternoon contest (noon to 4 p.m.) with cash prizes for the largest fish in each of five categories - northern, walleye, perch, crappie and bluegill.
    There will also be special awards for the largest northern over 36 inches and the largest walleye over 26 inches.
    The tournament dinner will be held at The Lac Vieux Desert Resort Casino in Watersmeet immediately following the tournament.
    The bar opens for social hour at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.
    Door prizes, tournament prizes and raffle prizes will be awarded during the dinner.
    Registration is $50 per person in advance which includes dinner.
    Additional dinner guests are $15 per person (limited meal tickets available).
