Bewabic State Park to host Harvest Fest – Centennial event Sept. 13-14

CRYSTAL FALLS — Celebrate Michigan state parks centennial year at Bewabic State Park with some fall fun on Sept. 13-14. Bring Halloween costumes, decorations and candy for trick-or-treating.
This fall-themed family-friendly activity includes crafts, campsite decorating, a parade and trick-or-treating. Participants must provide their own costumes, campsite decorations and candy for trick-or-treaters if they choose to participate.
The festival begins on Friday for youth to take place in a self-guided scavenger hunt throughout the campground. Flyers are available at the park.
If pumpkins are available, there will be pumpkin carving from 4-6 p.m.
The campground host will get things started on Saturday at 8 a.m. with coffee at their site followed by crafts from 11 a.m. to noon.
There will be kids’ games from 1-3 p.m. with time in between for everyone to get dressed for the costume parade to take place at 5 p.m.
Trick-or-treating in the campground will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. At this same time, campers and visitors can vote for favorite decorated campsites.
The campsite winners will be announced at 7 p.m. at the campground host’s site where popcorn and cider will be available. Schedule is tentative. Events or activities may be cancelled due to rain or hazardous weather conditions.
More than 30 Michigan state parks play host to fall harvest festivals. Hayrides, pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, costume contests, haunted trails, nature programs and horse-drawn carriage rides are just some of the family-friendly activities taking place in September and October.
