Audubon Society to meet Sept. 9
IRON RIVER—The Iron County Audubon Society will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, at the Iron County Museum in Caspian. Retired wildlife biologist Gary Zimmer of the Ruffed Grouse Society will speak on the topic of ruffed grouse.
Ruffed grouse are residents of the Upper Peninsula forests but are hard to locate. Residing locally all winter, they are best known for their drumming which can be heard up to half a mile away in the springtime.
“Come join us and hear more about these unique members of the bird world,” said Dale Safford.
