Applicants sought for 2020 YCC program

IRONWOOD — The Ottawa National Forest is looking for applicants for this summer’s Youth Conservation Corp (YCC) program.  This program is designed to accomplish needed conservation work on public lands, provide gainful employment for young men and women, and help develop an understanding and appreciation of the nation’s natural environment and heritage.
To participate in the program the applicant must be 15-18 years of age and a citizen of the United States, it’s territories, or possessions.  
Applicants must be a resident of a county within the Ottawa National Forest.
Jobs will be located at the Kenton Ranger District Office in Kenton.  The rate of pay will be $9.65 per hour. The employment period will be from June 8 through Aug. 1.
Note that the starting date may be changed to accommodate local school calendars that may need to makeup snow days.
Selected candidates would be notified of any change prior to the start date. Potential enrollees must apply through their school guidance counselor prior to March 20. Enrollees must provide their own transportation to the duty station and no housing will be provided.
Applicants will be notified of selection or non-selection.
