VA offers call-in support group
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Oscar G Johnson VA Medical Center began offering a daily call-in support group to all veterans on March 31. The purpose of the call-in is to give veterans an opportunity to gain support and stay connected during this unprecedented time.
“You do not need to be enrolled in VA health care and you will be connected to other veterans that are trained to support you,” said John Jamison, assistant public affairs officer of the VAMC.
“The wellness and mental health of our veterans is a priority,” added Amy Fowler, local recovery coordinator. “We know that many people may be experiencing increased stress as we are all dealing with changes to our regular routines.
“We want veterans and their families to know that mental health providers at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center are here and we are exploring creative ways to continue our mission to provide exceptional care and to offer additional support when it is most needed.”
The call-in can be accessed Monday through Friday from 1-2 p.m. The phone number to join the call is 1-800-767-1750; when prompted enter the code 56125.
